Can My Broker Receive Commission In Another State? | REALTOR ...

questions

Q: Can my broker in Michigan receive 1/2 the commission for a home he finds in Nevada, or it is only a ?referral fee? that is awarded?
?Jean, Pontiac, MI

A: That is a point of negotiation between your broker and the Nevada broker. As long as it is legal for the Nevada broker to pay a fee to an out-of-state broker, the amount of the fee is negotiable. There would be nothing wrong with a 50% referral fee, as long as it is legal and both brokers agree.

A: If your broker is licensed in Michigan he could receive commissions. If he is not licensed, he could receive a referral fee.
