Buying a house from your buyer's agent - Zillow Real Estate Advice

"But I feel like I have to do the negotiation all by myself now, because he will make more money if I pay a higher price."

If you are protecting you own interests you have to do, or at least make you own negotiating decisions anyway.? Your "buyers" agent makes more money the higher price you pay, whether they are the listing agent or not.

"How can I compare market value on homes all by myself without his assistance? I feel like I cannot trust his claims that the house is at market price since he obviously has a stake in it."

Either they are professional enough and honest enough to remain neutral or they aren't.? The same was true, and they are still a salesperson either way.? You have to at least try to verify and validate whether their CMA's are any good either way.?

Personally I'm not necessarily opposed to dual/transactional agency, both the buyer and seller are ultimately responsible for looking out for their own interests anyway.? One less middleman with their fingers in the pot can be beneficial especially when their is a reduction of fees.

The real questions come down to whether they are capable of handling the transaction as a professional services provider, or are they just another salesperson?? If they are the former it's a nice opportunity for you, if they are the latter they are of extremely limited use to a buyer anyway.
