Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm emerges as Dairy Tourism hub in India

What started as a mere concept is now a reality by Pune-based Parag Milk Foods Pvt. Ltd. and its sister concern Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm Pvt. Ltd., who brought to the notice of India a new form of tourism, Dairy Tourism. Parag Milk Foods is the maker of the 'Gowardhan' brand of dairy products. The integrated dairy and cow farm, Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm, located at Manchar in the Sahyadri Mountains, is scaling up to cater to its ever-expanding circle of customers in India. This in turn has piqued the curiosity of people to know how the farm's dairy products are produced, with the result that Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm has itself emerged as a hub for Dairy Tourism.

On promoting the farm as a Dairy Tourism hub in the country, Mahesh Israni, Chairman and Managing Director, Parag Milk Foods Pvt. Ltd., said, ?Dairy Tourism is not a fully developed concept in India, as it is in foreign countries. Being Asia?s largest cheese plant, and well-developed, state-of-the-art dairy farm works in favour of promoting Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm as a Dairy Tourism destination. We have seen a rising interest from people, with around 10,000 visitors since the last two years at our farm, and many keen to know how dairy products are made. We are showcasing Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm as a destination for experiential travellers as well as an educational hub where people can see, learn, and be part of the production process amid the scenic expanses of the property.?

Elaborating on the strategy to promote the Dairy Tourism concept in the Indian market, Israni said, ?We are working in tandem with Heena Tours & Travels to help facilitate experiential visits to Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm. We have also tied up with catering and hospitality universities such as Dadar Catering College (Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai) to conduct educational visits to the property.?

Known for its scenic beauty, Manchar has a variety of tourist attractions. People visiting Bhagyalaxmi Dairy Farm can also explore other famous tourist attractions here, such as religious places like Bhimashankar and Ozar, the historic Shivneri Fort, and the Malshej Ghat.
