Essential
Candidates must possess
- Minimum degree (or equivalent) in a Computing or IT related discipline. To include knowledge of mobile app development, web design and database development. A strong portfolio of previous mobile developments/ background (JQuery / MySQL / PHP)
- To be considered for this position you must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Business or related discipline.
- A good working knowledge of e-business/e-marketing/m-commerce.
- An interest in publishing
- An interest in agriculture
FUSION Graduates who have completed the FUSION Post Graduate Diploma in Management need not apply.
Applications will also be considered from those candidates with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.? Applicants who do not possess one of the above formal qualifications and who consider that they have a relevant equivalent qualification must provide the necessary evidence in their application form.

INTERTRADEIRELAND FUSION PROGRAMME ? HOW IT WORKS
The InterTradeIreland FUSION Programme offers Graduates an opportunity to manage technology transfer projects with some of the most progressive companies on the island of Ireland.? FUSION gives companies access to the wealth of expertise and facilities in our universities and colleges across the island of Ireland, allowing them to make strategic advances in innovation.? FUSION initially develops partnerships between companies with a technology need on one side of the border, and colleges or universities that can provide the required specialist expertise on the other side.? The partners work collectively to plan a specific project that will solve a technology need within the company.? A high calibre Graduate is then employed to spearhead the project for a period of 12 months and act as the link between the university and the company.? The successful FUSION Graduate will receive an attractive package and will also be given the opportunity to gain a fully-funded Post Graduate Diploma Business and Management from The Leadership Institute Queen?s University Belfast (QUB).
In this instance The Agricultural Trust and University of Ulster have partnered to carry out the project described below.
THE AGRICULTURAL TRUST
The Agricultural Trust publishes the two leading publications on the island for the farming and equine industries, the Irish Farmers Journal and The Irish Field. Irish Farmers Journal has been published since 1948 and the Irish Field, acquired from the Irish Times 2-3 years ago has been published since 1870. The Trust has also publishes a range of magazines including Irish Country Magazine and Irish Dairy Farmer. The company have appointed a member of staff as the Company Supervisor on the project. UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER
The University?s aim is to strengthen its links with industry, particularly SMEs and enterprises across the island and its mission statement highlights this i.e. ?to contribute to wealth creation and economic prosperity through teaching, research and technology transfer?. The Department of Business & Enterprise is at the forefront of teaching and research and in line with the University?s strategy is keen to encourage staff to develop their applied business experience. This project affords an excellent opportunity to combine two of the school?s key research areas namely, e-business and e-services. In addition it will provide the School staff involved in this project with a rich learning experience and will allow them to develop a range of case study materials that will be used in the e-commerce, e-services and customer relationship management modules. The academic institute has appointed a member of its staff as the Academic Supervisor to provide the required specialist expertise for the project. FUSION PROJECT DESCRIPTION
To develop an innovative farmers? mobile toolkit. The Facebook-like toolkit will hopefully be adopted by all farmers and become a much-used ?app? offering help, support and guidance on a range of farm-related topics. It will be developed using a multi-platform approach to ensure maximum coverage and optimal user satisfaction.
FUSION GRADUATE
Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by The Agricultural Trust to lead the FUSION project.? You will be responsible for ensuring that it is brought to a successful conclusion with the support from your supervisors.? This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate to gain excellent industrial experience through a structured and planned programme of work.? In addition to the daily support of a Company Supervisor, a dedicated member of University of Ulster with expertise in the project area will spend time with you and your Company Supervisor supporting the project.? Additional support will also be given to you by a FUSION Consultant responsible for ensuring that all projects run according to schedule.
Main Duties
- To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan developed by the company and academic partnership
- To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG) which includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland
- To liaise effectively with your Company Supervisor on a regular basis
- To liaise effectively with your Academic Supervisor to ensure that the required expertise is being provided to the project
- To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
- To direct the necessary forward planning for the success of the project
- To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
- To attend Postgraduate Diploma Business and Management delivered by QUB.
- To assist with the preparation of a project Final Report required by InterTradeIreland
- Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post

The project is of 12 months duration and offers an ideal opportunity for you to develop skills in

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT
You will be expected to attend a management training course, designed specifically for FUSION Graduates and delivered by Queen?s University Belfast (QUB).? Its aims are to enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities so that you can complete your FUSION project successfully and to equip you with the necessary skills to take up future leadership roles in business.? The course consists of a series of five, two-day theoretical workshops; however, a substantial part of the qualification will be work based.? On successful completion of the training, you will obtain a Post Graduate Diploma Business and Management which will be accredited by QUB.
LOCATION
The successful candidate will be based at The Agricultural Trust, Irish Farmers Journal, Irish Farm Centre, Bluebell, Dublin 12 The Graduate will also travel independently on occasions between The Agricultural Trust and University of Ulster and between The Agricultural Trust and QUB. Independent travel to other locations will also be required occasionally as the job dictates.
