When it?s done right, kitchen cabinet refacing is more than cosmetic. Businesses like Kitchen Solvers can do a lot more than make a homeowner?s kitchen pretty ? we can also make it more functional by working on the insides of cabinets.
?Kitchens we reface don?t just look new; they feel new,? says Kitchen Solvers President Gerry Henley. ?One of the reasons that nearly two-thirds of our business comes from referrals is that we often deliver more than customers thought possible. That?s because we take the time to educate customers about the ways we can improve both the looks and the function of well-built older cabinets.?
Kitchen Solvers recently remodeled the Marietta, Ga., home of Ron Gallantine and his wife, Jackie. Some of their favorite things about their new kitchen were suggested by franchisee Art Mancino.
?We got cool things that make it so that the drawers automatically close gently when you nudge them. We put that feature in some drawers that we use all the time,? Ron says. ?We also put a couple of sliders in so it?s easier to get to the pots and pans. We enhanced what was there before. We were able to make it better.?
Karen Weber of West Salem, Wisc., is also a fan of the cabinet slides that were recommended, in her case by Suzie Crowley of Kitchen Solvers of La Crosse, Wisc.
?Suzie recommended slide-out shelves for my lower cabinets, which makes it much easier to get to things,? Karen says. ?She knows what she?s talking about.?
Suzie can tick off a list of recommendations that often delight and surprise customers: Hidden, soft-close hinges; stylish undermount sinks that work with laminate countertops; new drawer boxes with automatic close features. She likes to explain the options to customers, who then choose their own kitchen features and budgets.
?Letting customers understand their options helps them feel in control of the remodeling project, which puts them at ease when they?re hiring someone to take on a once-in-a-lifetime project that costs thousands of dollars,? Gerry says.
Three decades of experience have taught us that educating customers is one of the best ways for a kitchen cabinet refacing business to prosper, and the philosophy has helped Kitchen Solvers franchises thrive throughout the United States and Canada.
