Animal Pin Cushion

Hello, I am Laura from SunFlowerFreckles. My daughter Miranda (8yrs old) got her first sewing machine from Grandma this past Christmas. To show how simple you can make a Pin Cushion I had her help me make one for her new machine. We picked out the Mystique line from Riley Blake since we both love the black and white.

Supplies needed: ?Coordinating Fabric, 2 ? 3 Buttons, Floss or Thread, Needle, and Stuffing

Face Cut

Find a round object to trace for the face of your animal; we used an empty butter container. Trace two circles on your fabric and cut them out.

sew button

For the front of the face sew on two buttons for the eyes using the Floss.

Face? face

On?one cushion we? used black floss to hand stitch a nose and mouth and on the other we used a button for the nose.

cut ears

Find a smaller object to trace for the ears and cut out four circles. We used a thread spool.

sew ear

Place two ear pieces right sides together and sew around the edge leaving a small gap open. Repeat the same steps for the other ear. Turn both ears right side out.

face layout

Place one face piece right side up on your desk then place both of the ear pieces on the face piece as shown in the picture. Place the other piece of face on top of the pile, right side facing down, sandwiching the ears in.

sew face

Sew around the edge of the face leaving a small gap open. Turn the face right side out.

Miranda done

Add Stuffing in to the face until it is filled enough to your liking and hand sew the opening shut.

cushions

I made my pin cushion into a Panda Bear and my daughter made a Cat. We had a lot of fun working on this project and hope you can have?fun making one too!

Pillowcase

My daughter started sewing late last year when we found out about ConKerr Cancer?and since then she?s made 12 pillowcases and while she?s working on that I make children clothes on my own machine.

Thank you for having us!
