There are a great many advantages to be had from home brewing- and inevitably, pleasure too! And we?re not just talking about the chemical effect home brewed alcohol has on you. Home brewing as somewhat of a stigma to it- something your Nan, or students do. But its not; it is for everyone over 18 of course. You are not just limited to brewing ale. You can do lager, wine, cider and spirit and liquors. Creativity is the key when home brewing.

For the cost of a Saturday night in the pub, you can buy all the kit needed to start to try wine making. Modern home brewing kits will give you everything you need including the barrel, steriliser and all the instructions needed. A good shop can you sell you a home brew kit with everything you need.

What you choose to make is completely up to you and can normally find something you really like the taste of very quickly. Seasonal ales are available as well, such as a special Christmas brew. Cider can be done with either fresh apples although can be costly with the need to buy a press or you can get a concentrates which you can pour in and use.

The overall quality when home brewing can vary. For example, the cheaper / bulk method is to take a treacle like pre-made substance you add water and sugar to. For the more adventureous, you would add your own fresh ingredients. With cider, you?d use your own apples as a prime example. Normally the better the ingredients the better the brew. With home brewing then, you have the flexibility of going down the easy route and using pre-made packs- or you can experiment with your own ingredients.

Home brew lets you brew massive bulks! The average yield will give you around 15-30 pints depending on the barrel. Picture not having to go to the pub, and having a shedload of drink at home at all times. For upcoming parties you can product enough drink to satisfy a big crowd.

Brewing at home is very cost effective too. Certainly cheaper than the pub! The average cost of a pint that?s been home brewed is normally around 50 pence ($1). Even the more expensive home brews don?t come near the cost of a pint in a pub. You?ll see the difference in your pocket from when you used to go out drinking in pubs. After all, what can be better than sitting in the comfort of your home and getting tipsy for a fiver!
