The Wise Men of Gotham

The wise men of Gotham were a bunch of crazy. And they told and retold jokes for about 700 years.

It was said that twelve men on a riverbank. The men were in search of their group, the drowned. They all had swum. When she came out of the water, one of them said: "I hope that none of us drowned."

"Well, count," said another, "it should be twelve of us."

Thus came to count the first one. Countedeleven.

"Eleven!" He said: "Oh, is surely one of us counted drowned .." said the man next to him.

So the man who mattered. He also has eleven. They are all numbered, and each came to eleven.

"Oh! One of us is drowned!" they said. And she ran down the river, looking for a sign of their missing friend.

A stranger came just at that moment and asked what it was.

"We came here 12 years, to go swimming," she said. "And now there are eleven. Onedrowned by us. "

"Well, it still counts." said the stranger. So they counted again and again, there are eleven.

"What you pay for, if I find the twelfth man?"

"Every penny we have," said the man of Gotham.

"First!" said the stranger, and touched his arm. "This is!" He said.

And so we went through twelve, so that every person, when he counted, he had forgotten to count himself.

When the stranger came to the last man, hit himsharply on the arm. The man screamed.

"This is the twelfth man," he said.

And the men of Gotham thanked the stranger and blessed to find their missing friend.
